See the best minivans, big SUVs and mega-big SUVs…

These days, with the huge number of new vehicle models and variants available on the market, it can be a challenge to shop for a new ride and come to a successful conclusion, with the vehicle you want parked in your driveway.

The key is to identify your needs so you can make a short list of the models that could be right for you. When it comes to family-friendly vehicles, the available choices can actually be whittled pretty quickly. Now, it’s true of course that a family of two adults and two kids can get by just fine with a compact car. But that belies the long-term trend that continues stronger than ever in 2019: Bigger is better!

Parents magazine recently established its ranking of the Top 10 family vehicles for 2019, divided up into three main categories: minivans, two-row SUVs and three-row SUVs.

For the purposes of its study, no fewer than 30 vehicle models were tested, with a total of 90 baby and child seats installed within them – not always a simple task, so we salute them for their commitment to the cause. The crew at Parents even tested some 300 cup-holders along the way!

Best minivans: Kia Sedona

Parents magazine especially lauded the revision given the Sedona for 2019, as well as the smoothness of the new 9-speed automatic transmission that replaces last year’s 6-speed unit. Also cited were the stain-resistant seats, obviously an interesting feature to have in a vehicle designed to ferry children around.
