When you hear about a company developing a 2,000-horsepower supercar capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a whopping 1.5 second and reaching a top speed of 483 km/h, there's reason to be sceptical. Yet, TranStar Racing looks to be on the way to accomplish that feat with the Dagger GT, whose latest renderings have just been released.

The Dagger GT is based on a Corvette Cheetah and will feature carbon fibre body panels, a multi-fuel (petrol/methanol/hydrogen/ethanol) twin-turbo Nelson Racing engine with a displacement of 572 cubic inches and a 6-speed transmission.

The project involves an all-star team of engineers, including former NASA aerodynamics experts and the designer of the Saleen S7. TranStar has promised the car will break just about every record around, such as the prestigious Nürburgring Nordschleife track time.

The company anticipates that only 5 units will be made available in 2011, while 10 units will be assembled and sold in 2012. Pricing has already been set at US$ 450,000.
