Following a three-month trial, Volkswagen has started rolling out 3D smart glasses among staff at the Wolfsburg assembly plant in Germany. Their use is voluntary and the employees concerned are gradually being introduced to the new technology.

These glasses allow users to automatically receive all the information they need such asstorage locations or part numbers directly in their field of vision. They can be controlled by touch or voice, meaning employees have their hands free.

Currently, 30 employees in various areas such as windshields or driveshafts are working with the smart glasses. In view of the positive experience obtained other departments, plants and brands also plan to use the glasses.
