Volvo announced that the all-new V60 Plug-in Hybrid, the first car in the world to combine diesel with plug-in hybrid technology, will offer three driver-selectable modes at the touch of a button.
The "Pure" button makes the car run entirely on electricity, giving it a range of up to 50 kilometres. Press "Hybrid" and you wind up with a high-efficiency, low-emission hybrid with an average of just 49 g/km CO2.
Finally, the "Power" button channels the V60's sportier side by providing a combined total of 285 horsepower (215+70) and 472 lb-ft of torque (325+147) – enough to propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
The V60 Plug-in Hybrid will be distributed across Volvo's dealer network in 2012. Canadian availability has yet to be confirmed, though. The model will initially go on sale in Europe.
