Unveiled today at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean Bugatti” is the second of six exclusive models from the “Les Légendes de Bugatti” (Bugatti Legends) series.

Who is Jean Bugatti, exactly? As the eldest son of company founder Ettore Bugatti, he took over as top executive in 1936 at the age of 27. He tragically died just three years later while testing the Bugatti 57C.

Similar to the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean Bugatti” uses an 8.0L W16 engine rated at 1,200 horsepower to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a mere 2.8 seconds.

The design is inspired from the iconic 57SC Atlantic, penned by Jean Bugatti, which still ranks among the most expensive vintage cars in the world. Just four of those were built between 1936 and 1938, and only two still exist in their original condition.

The body of the the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean Bugatti” is made entirely from jet black, clear-coated carbon fibre. The famous Bugatti horseshoe on the front grille and the EB logo on the back are both finished in platinum.

The interior, fully decked in rich leather, features the same beige and brown tones that were present in the 57SC Atlantic. There's also a rosewood-trimmed shifter, along with exclusive embroideries.

Only three copies of the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean Bugatti” will ever be produced. Each one will cost €2.28 million (plus tax and other charges).
