Thierry Neuville will race ten rounds of the World Rally Championship next season, with a work Citroën DS3 WRC, ran by team Citroën.

Two years ago, Citroën ran a second squad for Sébastien Ogier and Kimi Raikkonen. But the French focused on a single team in 2011, after Ogier joined the “main team” alongside Sébastien Loeb, and Raikkonen moved away to run a private DS3 WRC.

The Citroën Junior Team will be back in 2012, to groom a young talent, who was raised in the PSA Peugeot Citroën group: Thierry Neuville. The young Belgian driver had successful campaigns in 2010 and 2011 in the Intercontinental Rally Championship with a Peugeot 207 S2000 backed by Peugeot Belgique Luxembourg.

Alongside his co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul, Neuville will run ten of the WRC rounds, and Citroën plans to see Neuville establishing himself as Sébastien Loeb’s successor, since the eight-time world championship will stop his rally career at the end of 2012, or 2013.

Dutchman Peter van Merksteyn may join Neuville in the Citroën Junior team in selected rounds of the calendar.

Although, Thierry Neuville will also enter selected IRC rounds aboard a Peugeot 207 S2000, including his home event, the Ypres Rally.
