Finland's Kimi Raikkonen (Citroën) has been excluded from the World Rally Championship standings after he decided not to take part to the Rally Australia this week end.

Ice 1 Racing, Kimi Raikkonen’s private rally team, is classified among the WRC Teams (in opposition to the private entries), and is therefore forced by the rules to take part in a minimum of seven events during the season (that he nominated before the beginning of the season), including two races outside Europe.

Kimi Raikkonen’s absence in Australia means that the former F1 champion will not be able to start his second event outside Europe, as he only took part to Rally Jordan this season. As a consequence, Raikkonen has been excluded from championship’s classification, and will also have to pay to the FIA a fine of 16 000 euros.

The former Ferrari F1 driver will be allowed to take part to the last WRC event this year (France, Spain and Great-Britain), but he won’t appear in the final standings.
