James Thompson completed a run with the Lada Granta Sport in Magny-Cours, France before he will compete in a one-shot race this weekend at the Hungaroring.
Lada, which left the World Touring Car Championship three years ago, is about to make its return to the championship at the Hungaroring, but for this race only, before a possible full time return in 2013.
The new Lada Granta Sport has been prepared by ORECA in France.
"I was very pleased with the result of this first test," Thompson said.
"Everybody at LADA Sport and ORECA has worked tirelessly on the project, and it was fantastic to be back behind the wheel. Our first test was very encouraging. Both the engine and chassis performed well and big progressive steps can be made from this point onwards. I'm very excited for this weekend in Hungary, to measure ourselves against the competitors is essential for our development year, especially as we need to be fully prepared for the next season," Thompson added.
