The FIA World Motor Sport Council has released the 2012 WTCC calendar. The main changes are a new venue in USA, and the return of the Marrakech’s street race.

The race in Curitiba, Brazil, which usually host the opening rounds of the season, has been moved to July, and will be the first of the overseas events. These evenst are regrouped in the second half of the season, in order to reduce the transportation costs.

The season will begin March 11th in Monza.

The Marrakech’s race will be back in the calendar. After 2009 and 2010 races, the event was removed from this year'scalendar.

Brno (Czech Republic) and Oschersleben (Germany) are no longer part of the WTCC calendar. The German round will probably be replaced by a race in Austria, probably at the Salzburgring.

A change on this year's calendar has also been announced, as the race in Zhaoqing scheduled for November 6th has been replaced by a race in the Shanghai area.

The penultimate round of the season will be hosted by the Shanghai International Circuit, home of the Chinese Formula One Grand Prix, or the Tianma International Circuit, a regular venue for the Chinese Touring Car Championship.
