The older, 2008-spec cars set the best lap times during the first free practice session in Adria, penultimate round of the 2010 DTM championship.
Alexandre Prémat (Audi A4 2008) set the fastest time overall. Mike Rockenfeller (Audi A4 2008) stood second ahead of former Formula 1 driver, David Coulthard in a C-Class Mercedes. Maro Engel (Mercedes), Jamie Green (Mercedes) and Miguel Molina (Audi), all driving two-year old cars reached the top six. The best-placed 2009-spec car was the A4 Audi driven by Mathias Ekström. Canadian Bruno Spengler (2009-spec C-Class Mercedes) was 10th quickest overall in this free practice session, but remains confident before qualifying tomorrow. “We had a good day of work,” Spengler told Auto123.com. “This afternoon, we worked a lot on the set-up for the race. Today’s results do not mean a lot. We used only one set of tires, while most other drivers used two. I drove one long run and the car was both fast and constant. The Adria circuit is nice and I like it. The only problem is the sand that the cars bring back onto the track, but it’s generally okay”.
