McLaren is simply taking its time to decide which drivers to pick ahead of next year, the team's boss Eric Boullier revealed during his presence on the set of Sky Sports' Ask Crofty show.
"There is no problem, it is just taking the time to consider what is good for McLaren," Boullier said on the air. "No decision has been taken yet." It's understood that McLaren, the only top team that has not confirmed it's driver lineup yet, is going to drop either Jenson Button or Kevin Magnussen to make room for two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.
Button is arguably the better driver at the moment, having scored more than twice as many points as Magnussen last season. But the Dane seems to have a bright future ahead of him. "I know there are a lot of fans, Jenson’s fans, Kevin’s fans, other drivers’ fans and hopefully some McLaren fans," added Boullier. "But it is just about taking the right decision for the future, not only for next year but also for the next years." "Our responsibility is to make McLaren win again."
