Edoardo Mortara won the qualifying race that will determine the starting order of Sunday's F3 Macao Grand Prix.
The young Italian, newly crowned in F3 Euroseries, could be on his way to a second win in-a-row in the event as he won last years' Macao GP. Mortara dominated the qualifying race ahead of teammates Laurens Vanthoor and Daniel Abt. The qualifing had been postponed after numerous incidents on track Friday. Valtteri Bottas, who started from first row aboard his Prema Powerteam’s Dallara-Mercedes, could not follow the pace of the three Signature cars powered by a Volkswagen engine. He nevertheless qualified in fourth.
