Marcos Ambrose is confident of strong race pace in tomorrow's Aaron's 312 after qualifying 32nd at Talladega Superspeedway in Aladama today. source: bammedia.com.au Ambrose will start from the 16th row in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion, with the Australian focussed on race set-up as he enters his second NASCAR Busch Series superspeedway event. Ambrose was pleased with the performance of his car running in the draft among a pack of cars in practice yesterday. That was reflected on the timesheets as the two-time Australian V8 Supercar Champion posted the fifth fastest time in opening practice and 17th in final practice. Ambrose will take a conservative approach into the early laps of tomorrow's Aaron's 312 and look to slowly work his way forwards as he aims to set himself up for his third top ten finish of the season. The 30-year-old from Launceston, Tasmania currently sits eighth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings and leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points. Brad Coleman won the pole for the Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway, the 10th race in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series. Dave Blaney will start second and Jason Leffler third. Marcos Ambrose - #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion "We definitely had the car working well in the draft in practice yesterday and that's the important thing," said Ambrose. "We were probably even better in the draft yesterday than we were at Daytona in February, when we came 16th, so our race package is good. "Starting back in the pack doesn't disadvantage us at all. It's probably good that we will be able sit back in the first part of the race and let the pack sort itself out. "There is just so much grip out there and everyone is getting so much confidence that I think you will see the pack go three or four wide pretty early. With that you get some bumping and crashes. "We'll run around and play it smart to begin with because our focus is really on about 30 laps to go. You've just got to set yourself up to have a good run to the finish. Talladega isn't the sort of race you win in the first five laps."
