After qualifying her car in 24th for the ARCA Series' season opener, the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at the Daytona International Speedway, Maryeve Dufault was inadvertenly involved in a massive crash that occured on Lap 65.
Driving behind the wheel of the Dodge Charger VR-12 for the first time in the race for Tony Marks Racing (TMR), Dufault was 19th when the accident put an end to her race. She was placed 28th in the standing after the race, while veteran Bobby Gerhart won his seventh ARCA race in Daytona. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 took place Friday on the 5.5-mile oval that has been repaved for the 2011 season. Contrary to the first 35 teams in the standings that are automatically qualified for the race, Dufault had to qualify her car if she wanted to race this Saturday, her team being new to the circuit. Ty Dillon was the fastest driver on the track on Friday. He earned the first pole of the season. The second race of the 2011 season will be on the tri-oval of the Talladega Superspeedway, on April 15th.
