F3: Cyndie Allemann to contest the Formula 3 Euro Series
With one year of Recaro Formula 3 Cup experience under her belt, Cyndie Allemann now moves up to the Formula 3 Euro Series. "When I was karting, I'd never believed that I would make it to the Formula 3 Euro Series," beams Allemann. "But now I've done it. And I even was signed by one of the best teams on the grid." The today 20-year old delivered great results already in her karting days. She won the Swiss Championship twice and secured one European title. In 2004, at the age of 18, she made the move to car racing and entered the Swiss Formula Renault Championship. After two years, Allemann moved to the German Recaro Formula 3 Cup. She contested her Formula 3 debut season for Team SMS Seyffarth Motorsport and finished ninth. The race weekend at the tri-oval of the EuroSpeedway Lausitz turned out to be the most successful one for the young woman from Moutier. She clinched pole position for round one and in the race, she was pipped and had to settle for second place. In the first oval race of her career, she crossed the finish line just 0.108 seconds behind the winner and future champion, Ho-Pin Tung. And in the second race, she worked her way up from eleventh grid position to finish third. One day after the 2006 Formula 3 Euro Series finale, Cyndie Allemann carried out her first test for her new team, Manor Motorsport. At the Hockenheimring, she impressed and convinced her new Team Principal, John Booth, with fast lap times, thus making him sign her for his team. |
