Originally, touring cars and club class machinery ran around the town of Benguela, but it was in May 1972 that the 4-kilometre long permanent circuit was opened. However, various economic and political problems had kept the facility virtually abandoned for the most part over the next nearly 30 years. A street race was held earlier this year. The onboard footage was recorded from the cockpit of a Radical SR8LM. Note the serious lack of protection for the spectators and race officials.
