Round 2 of the 5-race New Zealand-based Toyota Series will be held this weekend at Teretonga Park.
The field will tackle the 2.57-km, anti-clockwise circuit.
Extremely fast when mastered, this circuit flows smoothly from Turns 1 through to 5. An amazingly long straight leads into a daunting high speed multiple apexes sweeper requiring maximum commitment from all drivers. The circuit is exposed to a strong sea breeze and often forces gearbox and setup changes. The competitors enjoyed two free practice sessions on Thursday. Russian John Simonyan was quickest in the first one (53.402 seconds) while Canadian Lance Stroll, the point standings’ leader, was 14th in 54.148s. Simonyan emerged again quickest in the second session (53.158s), while Stroll was 9th with a time of 53.650s). Friday will see three more practice sessions. Qualifying and Race 1 will be held on Saturday, while Races 2 and 3 will be presented on Sunday.
