Malcolm Wilson, the director of Ford M-Sport, played down the rumours that suggest that Dani Sordo could be back in a Ford Fiesta RS car later this season.
Sordo replaced the injured Jari-Matti Latvala at the Rally Argentina, after the Finn broke a collarbone in a cross country skiing accident. Sordo was on his way to a third place in Argentina when he was forced to retire in the very last super special of the event (alternator).
Rumours say that Sordo, who is a regular Prodrive MINI driver, could be back at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta in selected tarmac events. The news was denied by Malcolm Wilson. "Dani drove the perfect rally for us," Wilson said. "And obviously we were very sad for him that he retired so close to the finish. This was a one-off drive, though. We have no plans for Dani to be back in the car again this season Jari-Matti (Latvala) is our nominated driver for this year, so we can't change him and Petter (Solberg) is our other driver. Why would we change either of those two? We wouldn't and so it's not going to happen," Wilson added.
