Fabio Carbone (Ultimate Signature) scored his third win of the 2009 season in Estoril, and keeping his title chances alive in the World Series by Renault 3.5. Dutch driver
Giedo Van der Garde (P1 Motorsport), eighth in Race 1, needed three points to be crowned champion. Alvaro Barba (Prema Powerteam) and Canadian Robert Wickens (Carlin Motorsport) joined Carbone on the podium.
In Race 2, Van der Garde crossed the line in 8th place and secured the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title. Spanish driver Miguel Molina (Prema Powerteam) picked up his second race win of the year, ahead of Charles Pic (Tech 1 Racing) and Julien Jousse (Tech 1 Racing). Tech 1 Racing now stands top of the teams standings.
