SEAT Sport's Yvan Muller, who leads the Driver's Championship, took the first win in Monza from team mate Gabriele Tarquini. Rickard Rydell finished behind them in third to make it a complete SEAT podium.
But the Swede was then penalized by the marshalls for having cut the chicane at the first corner, while he was fighting with Chevrolet's Nicola Larini. Andy Priaulx finaly took position 3 after marshall's decision. Having finished second in the first race SEAT Sport's Gabriele Tarquini helped his Championship chances with a win in the second race. He came up from seventh on the grid with a great start to challenge the leaders on the first lap. Zanardi (BMW) started from pole, but was quickly challenged by Jordi Gene's Seat Leon TDi. The Spaniard could not protect his position against his team mate Tarquini, who clinched first position few laps to the end. Yvan Muller took 4th position in race 2. The frenchman is still leading the provisional classification, with nine points advantage ahead of Tarquini before the last rounds of the season, Okayama and Macao.
