A coupe is a two-door- meaning that the four-door Volkswagen Passat Comfort Coupe (CC) isn't really a coupe at all. A trend is seeing various German brands applying the term to their four-door models, regardless of its proper definition. The folks at Webster's may need to consider breaking out the erasers if it continues.

The Passat CC is a machine with lots to like- especially when four-season style and comfort are priorities.

An incredible sense of style
Potentially inappropriate model designation aside, Passat CC makes a huge stylistic splash while executing a typically German approach to safety and quality. The requisite dual exhaust, super-sunroof and big wheels were bolted on, but the CC's hopelessly captivating fascia drew the most attention. You may find yourself spending awkward amounts of time staring at it. In fact, you could easily convince friends and family you paid twenty grand more, if you liked.

The only body-related gripe is visible from the rear- as many commented that the taillamps looked like a copy of those on the Chrysler Sebring.

A mostly excellent interior
The cabin's looks won't let you down after seeing the CC from outside. Leather, chrome and brushed aluminum are applied throughout- and the entire dash lights up with premium white and red illumination that glints from the various metallic accents at night.

Controls are easy to find and use, and some even offer a subtle uniqueness for that extra something special in the interface between driver and car. For instance, the keyfob becomes the 'engine start' button when placed in its slot, and aluminum trim surrounds many of the switches for added tactile definition. The windows even lower slightly when doors are opened and raise when they're closed to help form a better seal.

The Dynaudio stereo system produces magnificent sound and hair-tickling bass, and high end features like a motorized rear sunshade and 'auto hold' function lend themselves towards exclusivity and sophistication. The latter feature is fantastic in stop-and-go traffic, holding the car in place once stopped without engaging 'park'.

Inside, leather, chrome and brushed aluminum are applied throughout.
