Is There Something Lost in The Translation?
Suzuki is very excited to introduce the biggest car in their line up; the all new Suzuki Kizashi.

The name Kizashi translated basically means ‘something great is coming’ and with a name like that, I am expecting something great from this car.

When it comes to brand name cars, Suzuki is not a very popular one here in Canada or even North America for that matter.

At some point in time, many years ago here in Canada, Suzuki made the Verona mid-size sedan. Don’t feel bad if you can't picture it – very few were sold and even fewer are left on the roads. I am really hoping that Suzuki has learned from the past and made some serious changes on this new sedan.

The mid-size segment accounts for just over 20% of the entire market share here in Canada so the Kizashi is going to have to stand out if it wants to compete with the already popular Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Subaru Legacy and Nissan Altima.

Before picking it up for my week long test drive, I knew very little about the Kizashi. I hadn’t spoken to other journalists, seen another reviews, or even seen a commercial! So I am going into this with a very open mind and am not even sure how Suzuki has been marketing their newest vehicle.

On the outside, this sedan looks great. The lines are simple and clean. It is nicely proportioned from the front all the way to the rear. There is a big chrome S on the front criss-cross grille, it comes with standard 18-inch wheels, head lights that fit perfectly with the flow of the hood and the trailing edge of the trunk has a small upward turn in place of a spoiler.

All of the research and development for this car was done in Europe so it is not surprising that the overall styling resembles a VW. As far as looks go in this class, I think that this Kizashi will be in the top place with the competition.

The back end has a more athletic shape and I love the big rear chrome exhaust tips.

A very interesting thing to point out about this sedan is the fact that it is only offered with one trim level and therefore a fixed price of just under $30,000. It doesn’t really give the buyer much to decide on - you either like the way it is or you just won’t buy it!
