The new Lexus ES 300 brings a new meaning to the word 'refinement'. Its dynamic lines and luxurious interior make this automobile one of the finest that I have ever driven in its class. Lexus has also equipped the ES 300 with a new electronic ("drive by wire") throttle control to improve engine response. The result is that the high-performance V6 engine generates a wide torque curve for immediate response at any speed, while achieving an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) certification for fuel economy and emissions performance. Optional with the Luxury and Premium Packages are the Lexus Vehicle Skid Control (VSC) system with Brake Assist and integrated electronic traction control (TRAC). VSC uses throttle intervention plus the ABS actuators and sensors to help maintain directional stability under adverse road conditions, while Brake Assist can determine an emergency braking situation and, if the driver has not applied enough pedal pressure to engage the ABS, supplements the braking power applied.
As an option, to combat changing road surfaces the ES 300 can be equipped with Adaptive Variable Suspension system (AVS), which continuously tunes each wheel's shock absorber damping rate. The driver can also choose between Comfort and Sport modes, or two intermediate settings from a switch situated in the centre console.
The interior of the vehicle is elegantly attired with leather seats and genuine walnut trim is used on the dashboard, centre console, and doors, which also feature chrome handles.
