The next generation Bonneville was even more refined. GM pulled out all the stops and created a very attractive 'European' inspired design. A little more athletic looking than the previous iteration, the old cars near vertical rear window was replaced with a windswept sheet of glass. The public responded to these changes and the new Bonneville sold well in base as well as in its no-holds-barred SSEi trim.

It's safe to say that once again the Pontiac division didn't hold back when they redesigned their latest Bonneville. On the contrary, the new Bonneville SSEi is hardly trying to fit into the crowd at all. Truly, Pontiac wants to set itself apart from today's average luxury sport sedan - that is if there really is such a thing as an average in this hotly contested class. The new Bonneville is dynamic looking, making a bold statement about its owner.

Approaching you from the rear the SSEi looks menacing. Its flared nostril grille openings, wide angular headlight covers and beady-eyed fog lamps emulate a Firebird Trans-Am more than an executive sedan. The Bonneville's long, lean, low-slung body creates the illusion of rapid movement even while stationary, while the rear deck-lid spoiler adds to the performance mystique.

Climb inside and you are met with an equal amount of go-fast gadgetry. The most advanced bit of techno wizardry is the application of an effective HUD (head-up display) system. The HUD projects your speed, radio station and other important information on the windscreen, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road when checking your vitals. It's easy to see how this technology could reduce accidents, and at the very least make a drivers life less difficult. The use of HUD in a Pontiac also hints to us that the amazing new "Night Vision" system available on the Cadillac DTS might trickle down the food chain some day soon. We hope sooner than later, as this technology just may be the most significant safety breakthrough since the advent of anti-lock brakes and airbags.
