Looking around the cabin I couldn't help but notice the odd color combinations Pontiac chose to use on the dash and console. Dark brown is mixed with beige, black and then gray. There are large gray buttons everywhere, each clashing a little with the brown and beige interior design. Although I am hardly a connoisseur of personal style, I was taught not to wear browns and grays simultaneously.

The twelve position seats are supportive and should allow most anyone to find a comfortable position. Unfortunately, I found that their cup shaped design cut into the bottom of my hamstrings, at the point just above the knees. I had difficulty getting completely comfortable, although I have to say the dual temperature heated seats helped warm me over (pun sadly intended).

Surrounding the driver and passenger, plenty of vents allow fresh air from any angle. As well, the Bonneville's power moon roof is one of the only units tested that doesn't make annoying buffeting noises when driving at lower speeds - kudos to the engineers who designed it. From behind the wheel, the SSEi's gauges are easy to read analog dials. The tachometer and speedometer are fairly common items, but to the right of these sits a 'boost' indicator for the supercharger.

Oops, I let the cat out of the bag. There's a beast that rests beneath the skin. The 3.8-liter supercharged V6 feels like a V8. The sounds emanating from beyond the firewall may not be the most melodic, but this shortcoming is more than made up in down-home American-style 'grunt'. The SSEi pushes out 240 hp and 280 lb ft of torque, easily adequate for launching it from 0 to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in about 7.5 seconds. When the pedal hits the floorboard, grab hold of the steering wheel because this front-driver hasn't quite mastered the effects of torque-steer. Nevertheless, the rush from 0 to 60 is exhilarating.
