Climb inside and the trip back down memory lane continues, with a decisively simple dash layout, encompassing a chrome-rimmed gauge package sitting center stage above the console. Superbly crafted aluminum bits and pieces accent the sumptuous Napa leather wrapped cabin, highlighted by an exquisitely detailed, twelve-prong steering wheel. The effect is stunning!
BMW has gone to great lengths not to clutter the well laid out interior, by fixing double duty switchgear for adjusting the mirrors and windows, as well as popping the trunk and fuel door. Just flick a switch and sue the same button to accomplish a different task. More so, the left/right mirror toggle will dictate which window will be adjusted. Leave it in the middle and both will go up or down evenly. Now that's German efficiency!
Equally efficient is the Multi-Information Radio (MIR) that incorporates the standard radio with stacking CD player behind the seat, plus a GPS navigation system and hands-free cellular phone.
Turn the key, press the starter button and hold your breath for one of the most scintillating exhaust note to ever emanate from twin tailpipes. A perfect whir of pistons, cams and timing chains join the chorus. Press a switch on the center console and the soft-top retracts automatically without any need for unclamping (your assistance is only necessary when fixing the top in place).
