But as attractive as its profile design is, its form has evolved for functional means. HCD Senior Designer Dragan Vukadinovic, who led the HCD6's exterior design team stated, "The entire side of the car serves as ducting to the engine. This design also improves aerodynamics by taking normally turbulent wheel well air, smoothing it out and using it for engine cooling."
Overall it's a muscular, technically advanced look, but still quite elegant.

The same can also be said for its interior. Inspired by windsurfing and kite flying, not necessarily done by the same types of people, its exposed structural components are highlighted by an unusual single roll bar, inline with the axis of the car. While providing rollover protection, it also improves aerodynamics - smart. Distinct concave door panels increase interior room while "representing a sail filling with air". Overtop the panel a clear Lexalite acrylic enclosure houses a stereo speaker and courtesy light while doubling as an armrest.
