Spartan is a word that hardly does the interior justice. The Viper is extremely basic with only absolutely necessary creature comforts such as Connolly leather seats, power windows and locks, plus air-conditioning - which incidentally doesn't do much of a job keeping legs and feet cool. For 2002 satin aluminum-finish accents brighten up the interior, but dash and console plastics are still of the hard-and-cheap feeling variety. The same has to be said for the audio and HVAC controls, looking as if pulled in their entirety from the much less aspiring Neon.

If you're planning on taking your special someone to that romantic getaway there are a few things to take into consideration. Its firm ride feels better to driver than passenger, due to the steering wheel you get to hold on to. Next, there's only 193 L (6.8 cu ft) of cargo space in the trunk. That's not bad for this class of vehicle but you'd better ask her to pack light. What's more I'd recommend paying off the credit card bill, as its 20.9 / 10.5 L/100 km city/highway fuel economy rating isn't exactly stellar. That said if fast cars and the element of danger get your girl going, by all means don't worry about the gas and buy her whatever she needs when you get there. The Viper will do the rest.
