OSHAWA, Ontario — More for your money. Building on the reputation it has developed as a versatile and rugged sport recreational vehicle, Pontiac Aztek enters the 2002 model year with, among other features, a new look, a two-model strategy — front-wheel and all-wheel drive — and lower Manufacturers Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) for both models.

A reduction of $2,000 in the MSRP lowers the base price of the two-wheel drive model to $27,295, and a reduction of $2,500 for the all-wheel drive lowers its base price to $30,230.

In a recent vehicle-owner study done by J.D. Power and Associates, the Pontiac Aztek was among the sport utility segment leaders, based on owners who gave their vehicles the highest or second highest scores in almost every study component measure. The study covered eight areas of vehicle performance and design, including more than 100 attributes that detailed what owners liked or disliked about their new vehicles.

Other new features for both models are: Freshened monotone exterior appearance with rear spoiler; new exterior color: Champagne Beige; beverage can console/cooler and AM/FM stereo radio with CD now standard; heated seats on optional leather seating; standard three-spoke 16-inch cast aluminum wheels on 2WD models and new 17-inch cast aluminum wheels and tires on AWD models. There is also expanded availability of the OnStar communication, security, safety and theft deterrent alarm system.
