All said the new concept receives a lot more than just a power boost. Its rear suspension system is now independent, replacing the F150's standard Hotchkiss type solid rear axle, leaf springs and outboard shocks.
"The new architecture of the F-150 made it easier for us to adapt the independent rear suspension system," commented Jeff Feit, SVT Lightning chassis and powertrain engineer. "This allowed us to reduce unsprung weight even further and fine-tune the handling in true SVT style."

In the front its upper control arms are modified to fit the oversized wheels and tires from those on the standard F150, while rack-and-pinion steering, now standard on the F-150, offers more direct turn-in than older recirculating ball types. Massive 22-inch cast aluminum 6-spoke wheels are shod with hand-cut Goodyear P295/40R22 tires up front and P325/45R22's in the rear.
The brakes are by Brembo, and there's no better name, meaning 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers at the rear all clamp down on 380 mm (15.0 in) cross-drilled ventilated discs - serious stopping power.
