As amusing as its acceleration, the Infiniti is delectable in the corners. Its 52% front, 48% rear weight distribution (50/50 under acceleration), 4-wheel independent multi-link suspension and Vehicle Dynamic Control traction and stability system makes no excuses when road imperfections, undulations and general curviness abound. Rather, it begs to be driven harder and faster, doling out roller coaster thrills that had me screaming and throwing my arms into the air - well almost.
It would be reasonable to surmise that the G35's superb handling would come at the price of an overly firm ride, but quite the opposite is true. To quell high-frequency vibrations and therefore limit their effects on driver and passengers, Infiniti incorporates ripple control shock absorbers. The result is a compliant ride, even in the firmly suspended G35 Aero.
With the Aero in mind, considering the standard cars superb road manners, there seems little reason to opt for its sport-tuned suspension. Still, you might like the titanium interior trim - replacing wood accents - rear decklid spoiler, 5-spoke alloy wheels and underbody aerodynamic aids.
Do I like it? I'm sure it's hard to tell. Fact is, I'm thoroughly impressed. The stunning G35 will put Infiniti back on the sport sedan buyer's radar screen.
