My tester was the AWD4, and while I always like a vehicle with all-wheel-drive for safety's sake, I wasn't overly impressed with the power of the four-cylinder engine. The all-wheel-drive VUE isn't an especially heavy SUV as it does incorporate the polymer body panels Saturn made famous, however the 2.2-liter engine isn't up to a long haul of gear and family up to the cabin. No doubt the six-cylinder engine would correct this.

The no-nonsense design of the VUE is carried over into the interior. The overall simplicity and brand track record will make the VUE stand out in the economy SUV crowd. (Photo: General Motors)

Like all Saturn vehicles, the VUE is a no-nonsense kind of design -- the kind of interior layout most of us would come up with given the task of creating an SUV.

Such simplicity of design, and from all accounts a good brand track record make the VUE an SUV that should be considered by anyone looking in the $25,000 to $30,000 category.
