2004 Chrysler Crossfire - Igniting the Senses

What vehicles do you think of when Chrysler is mentioned? Large luxury cars, the country's best selling minivan, or how about the radical PT Cruiser? True, true and true, but why don't you think about one of the world's best handling two-seat sport cars?

What? You heard me right. But of course, until word gets out from people who've actually driven it, and then finally when the Crossfire's marketing campaign gets underway sometime in Q3 of this year, you can't be expected to put the name Chrysler and the words sports car together.

Yet my now educated guess is the Crossfire coupe will go a long way to transform people's perception of the American luxury brand. Luxury yes, but American? OK, you've got me there. Sure its heritage is pure red, white and blue but now, since the Daimler-Benz 'merger' about 39% of its engineering is black, red and yellow. Of course, that's no bad thing as our German friends are considered among the best in the automotive field with Mercedes-Benz leaders in safety innovations especially.

"Chrysler Crossfire symbolizes what this merger is all about," stated Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group. "It's a great example of what we call disciplined pizzazz, or the ability to bring a got-to-have-it vehicle with top quality to market quickly and profitably by working together, combining strengths, and effectively leveraging our resources. Chrysler Crossfire is the icon of the Chrysler brand as it incorporates proven quality and technology in a stunning wrapper."
