GMC has divided the Envoy XUV into two trim-level lines - the nicely equipped SLE and the upscale SLT. My test unit bore the initials SLT and wanted for nothing. I enjoyed the heated power leather seats that indulged the driver and front passenger. These units were large, supportive and fatigue free. In both SLE and SLT form, the Envoy comforts its front passengers with dual zone climate control. In the SLT, the rear seat renters also enjoy the comfort extolled by controlling their own heat and air conditioning, along with separate audio.

The SLT will also add a driver information center to the Envoy's comprehensive instrumentation. I was impressed when I climbed into the XUV after skiing and saw a driver information warning that read, "there may be ice" displayed on the information screen. The ambient air temperature was only 1 degree and I was about to descend a mountain highway on a wet evening. This was definitely information that I and all other motorist on the mountain highway needed that night.

The base Envoy XUV SLE may not warn of ice, but it is respectably adorned with a trailering kit, roof rack, aluminum wheels, fog lights, tinted glass, deluxe cloth, reclining front bucket seats with lumbar, power windows, power programmable door locks, dual-zone climate control, AM/FM stereo radio with CD player and six-speakers, cruise control, full instrumentation and tilt wheel.
Whichever model of Envoy XUV ends up in a buyers driveway, it is certain to be a neighborhood hit. Especially when the nosey guy or gal down the street sees the proud new owner take a hose to the inside of the new SUV. They'll think he's lost his marbles and keep far away for fear of becoming the next target of the mad hoser - a spin-off XUV benefit.
