Conclusion
The Z4 feels like a more focused car than the Z3, very much like any car that is renewed. The Z4 no longer has the old style roadster look that made the Z3 so popular. BMW's present roadster is a blast to drive but it somehow lacks the character that the German Z-car had.
The recent arrival of the new and more powerful SLK and Boxster are making the Z4 3.0L look like an under achiever. BMW never takes a challenge sitting down and the automotive world knows that they always have a few tricks up their sleeves. So, when can we expect an M version of the Z4 with the M3's potent 333 hp 3.2L I-6 or better, the M5's 400 hp 4.0L V8? How about a Z4 M Coupe?
Good stuff:
Smooth and powerful 3.0L
Soft top operation
Brakes
Not so good stuff:
Steering
Trim rattles
Competitors:
Mercedes SLK
Porsche Boxster
Honda S2000
