In a world where logic no longer applies, Cadillac has been offering an oversized deluxe pickup called the Escalade EXT for a few years now. Ford, not wanting to be left behind, has decided to market the Lincoln Mark LT. This luxury workhorse is based on Ford's F-150 Supercrew. The only engine choice will be the 300 hp 5.4L V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the Cadillac, the Mark LT will be available as a 2WD or a 4WD.
Amongst its principal styling cues are tons of chrome accents, the typical Lincoln front grille and 18-inch chrome wheels. Starting with a Lariat, the LT is obviously very well equipped. Options will include a sunroof, a DVD player, reverse sonar and power adjustable pedals.
Price: $49,535 for 4x2 models, $53,150 for 4x4 models.
Availability: Very soon
Auto123.com's impressions:
Because of its origins, the Mark LT should not be a bad product. However, the presence of an ultra-luxury pickup truck on our market boggles my mind. Not only this, but why would anyone pay a huge premium over the Lariat just for the Lincoln name?
Lincoln Aviator Concept
The Lincoln Aviator Concept was originally unveiled at last year'sDetroit and New York Auto Shows. It is a cross between an SUV and alarge station wagon and is effectively based on a car platform. It isby far a more original concept and idea than the Aviator that ispresently offered in showrooms at the moment.
