While the number of gas stations that carry the E85 blend is slowly growing, it is unlikely that Saab will import the 9-5 EFF to Canada. (Photo: General Motors of Canada) |
Although some refueling stations in Canada add a percentage of ethanol to their gasoline, the E85 blend is not widely available. While these numbers are growing it is unlikely that Saab will ever import the 9-5 EFF to Canada, however, with growing concerns and stricter emissions employed south of the border it might make sense for the Swedish marque to add the feature in order to boost sluggish 9-5 sales. With a solution as simple and readily accessible as ethanol, it's simply mind-boggling why more car companies aren't giving the technology a shot. To be fair to General Motors, which owns Saab, ethanol burning flex-fuel systems are available in some models, such as the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs. Kudos to GM for cleaning up what are otherwise gas guzzling vehicles. Now it's up to consumers to take advantage and purchase them.
