The smart fortwo is a step in the right direction. In order to reduce fuel consumption and reduce pollution, new ideas have to keep coming about. As the smart shows, this does not mean that the near future will be boring. In fact, I think the future will be bright with some great eco-friendly alternatives. Long-term reliability is unknown but the car seems to be doing well in Europe. I think this car is a great city cruiser and should be on every urbanite's car test-drive list. Since 1998, close to 700 000 smarts have been purchased. That many people cannot be wrong. I think the sooner the rest of the smart line up comes our way, the sooner we will be seeing more of them on our roads.
