Mathieu St-Pierre
The new M5 has now arrived. It is powered by a fabulous 5.0-litre V10 developing 500 horsepower, a whopping 100 hp per 1 liter of displacement from a normally aspirated motor. The last M5 weighed 1825 kg and had a 394 hp 5.0L V8 to move it around. The new one has 25% more grunt than the previous model and only weights 15 kgs more. It is no wonder then that the car will rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in no more than 4.5 seconds. With a near perfect 51/49 weight distribution, enormous disc brakes, meaty 19" wheels and tires, the M5 will tear up any surface covered in tarmac with assertiveness. BMW's third generation of the F1-inspired sequential manual gearbox (SMG) sports 7 forward gears and is controlled by paddles located behind the steering wheel. The new M5 will be the fastest M-Series vehicle ever built by BMW.

Price: Starting at $125,000 (estimated)
Availability: September 2005

Auto123.com's impressions:

This is basically the poor man's Ferrari and Porsche killer. It has room for the whole family and a few pieces of luggage for the weekend trip to the cottage. The perfect compromise.

BMW H2R

The H2R hydrogen-powered performance car was shown off, which has a 6-litre V12 that develops 285 horsepower. The H2R is said to reach 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) in less than 6 seconds and can attain 304 km/h (190 mph).
