Conclusion

Certainly, many aspects of the truck will be copied by other manufacturers when they renew their models: the dual action tailgate and the in-bed trunk. Honda is marketing the Ridgeline as a tough truck however I doubt that many owners will actually take it off-roading. The Ridgeline will probably sell more because of its civilized nature than its off-road capabilities. As I have said, there are many Pilot components in the Ridgeline and they have proven to be reliable.

There are no compromises in driving the Ridgeline. The only possible concession would have to do with those that need a longer bed. Otherw
ise, I think that the Ridgeline is actually too competent a vehicle to reach those that need a pick up and the fact that the spec sheet has "FWD vehicle" written on it may be enough for many to look elsewhere.

I actually spoke to the owner of a Ridgeline and he told me that he had just replaced his 2003 Pilot with the pick up. He was interested in a vehicle with more cargo capacity and wanted something original. Perhaps this is to whom Honda needs to aim their marketing towards.

Good stuff:
Versatility
Drive
No compromises

Not so good stuff:
Smallish bed
