Realizing the importance of the midsize sedan segment on the North American market, Hyundai made quite an effort to create the best Sonata ever. Presented as a 2006 model, the 4th generation Sonata has been designed with fluid lines that are reminiscent of the Honda Accord mixed in with a little German influence. Continuing with the best bang-for-the-buck theme, the new Sonata will have standard features that include six air bags, ABS brakes, traction and stability control. Similar to the 2005 model, two engines will be available. The first will be a 162 hp 2.4L 4-cylinder mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The second will be a 237 hp 3.3L V6 available only with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Price: To be announced later this week
Availability: May/June 2005

Auto123.com's impressions:

Now that Hyundai has reassured the public about its reliability record, the number 1 Korean manufacturer will now need to refine its products to remain competitive with the Japanese. The 2006 Sonata may not be the most original car around but it will certainly spark the interest of those that want more for their money.
