producing their variation on the theme. Eventually, like all good things, the M became outclassed. For 2005 (as a 2006 model), Mercedes-Benz is back with an all-new M-Class, sporting new, state-of-the-art technologies in powertrain, structure and design, making it one of the most advanced SUVs on the market. on driving dynamics, targeting the upper echelon of the European segment, particularly the award-winning VW Touareg and the arch-nemesis BMW X5.

On the surface, the new M-Class is sharper and tauter, in line with the new generation of sporty Mercedes-Benz sedans and sports cars. Flat-edged surfaces and fresher lines, particularly those which cap the fender arches, crease the body and leave a bold impression on the familiar body shape. A surprising amount of 'wedge' can be seen in the M's side profile, a common practice in sports cars, but unusual for an SUV.
