Panda goes above and beyond

Fiat says that their Panda is designed to stand out in masses of super-compact production automobiles with a design and style all its own.

Coupled with exceptional quality, unique features and packaging, the Panda has received several updates over 2007 including a choice of four new paint and interior colors to further enhance its cute and capable style.

It's not just a vehicle, but a vehicle family, which all share the same platform. Styling updates are nonexistent this year, as Fiat mentions that the Panda's shape is so appreciated by its worldwide customer base that it was best left alone. The Panda resembles a small SUV. It almost looks like a four-wheeled sports back-pack.

Despite its adventurous, go-getter guise, the Panda is comfortable and relaxing to drive, while achieving exemplary fuel mileage ratings, the carmakers says. Panda also boasts high resale value, excellent bang-for-the-buck and low running costs for owners.

Enthusiasts would expect nothing less, after all, from the brand who introduced many new and unique technologies to the segment. These

include a 1.3 litre, 70 horsepower "multijet" engine, a "Dualogic" sequential manual gearbox, a sophisticated Electronic Stability System, and even permanent four-wheel-drive with two differentials and a viscous coupling.

All of the hard work and innovation needed to excel in the tough "A" segment seems to have paid off, with the Panda taking top marks on Italian and European top-ten lists. Since launched, over 650,000 Pandas were registered in Europe- making it the biggest seller in the segment. Certain Panda models are also sold in Taiwan, Malaysia and the island of Martinique.

The International Motoring Press named panda their "Car of the Year" for 2004.

Perhaps it is the versatility and flexibility of the Panda marque that has afforded it such success. With so many variations available, there is a Panda for just about every need or budget. There is a Panda Climber 4x4, an edgy, funky Alessi designated model, a Panda Emotion which comes

loaded with features, a Panda Cross and even a Panda Monster and Panda Panda. There is also a Panda 100 HP, which is self-explanatory.

Fiat is planning a rally race for young Panda drivers to kick off a racing career as well.

Not only an exercise in quality and driving excitement, the Panda is a real marketing success. It's the continued innovation in technology and packaging that have brought the Panda this far and that will carry it forward for years to come.
