Some complaints surfacing
A growing number of comments about engine noise under acceleration surfaced, and low-pitched squeaks coming from the back of the van are starting to get more frequent. We suspect the plastic trim on the sides of the cargo area.
We like wheel-mounted controls, especially in big vehicles where you have to stretch out to reach the radio. In this case, however, buttons for changing tracks or radio stations are cruelly missing. And why can't the CD player read MP3 files, since even a base $13,595 Rio can?
But even the small aggravating stuff can't prevent us from looking at this Kia and thinking how impressive it is.
First scheduled service
The Sedona's recommended maintenance schedule calls for service every 8,000 km. That interval service consists of replacing the engine oil and filter, locks and hinges lubrication as well as a host of inspections: fluid levels, tire pressure and condition, lights, wiper/washer function, horn and handbrake.
The bill amounted to $49.20 plus tax, and the job was done quickly. We especially appreciated phoning the local Kia dealer to book an appointment, and them saying: "Wanna come right now?" We didn't even have time to taste-test the coffee in the service waiting area. That's fast and no-hassle service, and the way it should always be.
And still no real problems yet.
