The crossover segment is the vaguest in the industry
Let's take the Subaru B9 Tribeca and compare it to the CX-7. They are, after all, both crossovers. The Subaru is another vehicle that is attracting
people away from run-of the mill SUVs and minivans. As far as I am concerned, this is what the Tribeca most closely resembles. It is available with 5 or 7 passenger seating and has a taller stance than the CX-7. Although the Subaru is very competent on the road, the Mazda outclasses it in every category. By the way, both are tough on gas as I averaged close to 16L per 100 km in both cases.
The CX-7 is surprisingly fun to drive. The high driving position betrays and confuses the senses when curves are taken nearly flat out on the highway. It is an interesting feeling and I can almost easily imagine a CX-7 with the right set of tires lapping around the St-Eustache Autodrome.
The CX-7's price range is from $31,995 to about $41,500 for a GT with
AWD and options.
Good stuff:
Handling
Distinct styling
No so good stuff:
Fuel consumption
Ride could be smoother
Competitors:
Nissan Murano
Subaru B9 Tribeca
Ford Edge
Toyota Highlander
