Big news on the all-new Camry: It is going to get bigger and faster. In fact, only the wheelbase has grown. In doing so, passenger room has increased.
Under the hood, we find a revised 158 hp 2.4L inline 4-cylinder and the very-fresh 3.5L V6 shared with the Avalon and RAV4. The output for the 6 is 268 hp and it is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will therefore compete with the Altima's 250 hp and the Accord 242 hp.
The new Camry is also lower slung to give its styling a little more bite. Speaking of looks, the car will now look more like a Lexus (a good thing) and move slightly upscale.
Along with 6th generation Camry, Toyota is introducing something it promised the World a while back; a Camry Hybrid. As is the case with all Hybrid Synergy Drive equipped Toyotas, the Camry's performance levels will be impressive and, of course, fuel efficiency and low emissions will also be remarkable. The Hybrid powertrain is a 192 hp 2.4L inline-4.
