Audi's A4 3.2 S-Line is dressed to impress, and a welcome update is on the way

Audi got into the all-wheel-drive game early on. They saw the benefits of all-season confidence and performance before many other carmakers began creating and marketing their own All Wheel Drive systems. This pioneering spirit is apparent across their lineup, as virtually every vehicle they make has Quattro AWD as standard.

Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system has been one of the best since its introduction.

S-Line: dressed up and ready to entertain

The A4 3.2 S-line represents a performance enhanced version of the German automakers entry-level sedan. It packs an all-weather punch, delivers a well-balanced performance and mileage equation, and combines technology, luxury and power like few others. The S-Line kit includes but is not limited to special badging, larger wheels, and a revised front and rear bumper,

Opulent, high-tech interior- for four of average size
I'm a big fan of the wood accented and khaki-colored leather interior which sets the A4 off as an unmistakably luxurious machine from first glance. The cabin is clearly well made, and everything you may switch, manipulate or operate has a solid and bolted-down feel.

It's a well-stocked interior from which to enjoy a road trip. The Audi Symphony stereo system provided clean and powerful sound, and came fitted with a 6-CD changer and satellite radio. A Bluetooth system, additionally, synchronizes your mobile phone with the car's entertainment system and allows calls to be answered and dismissed with a steering wheel mounted button and cluster display screen.

Automatic climate control maintains a comfortable temperature for each front passenger- each of whom sits atop a heated and power adjustable seat. The rear seats are heated too, courtesy of the cold-weather package. On cold mornings, your carpool group will thank you- that is, unless there are more than two of them in the backseat. With limited legroom, they're best left for youngsters.

No surprises under the hood, except the mileage
Audi's familiar 3.2 litre V6 with 255 horsepower was on the scene, and for 2008 it feels smoother and more eager than previous models-a welcome change I'm told has to do with an engine-management software upgrade. The A4 averaged about 9.2L / 100km on the highway and 12L / 100km in the city. Of course, the fuel-saving and performance-enhancing Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) system only drinks premium.

The 3.2L V6 is surprisingly fuel efficient.
