Almost beyond reproach
Habitacle fonctionnel et efficace

Efficient cockpit
The seats are very comfortable, and their cloth fabric is very nice. The steering wheel rounds up the audio and cruise control buttons, and the heating and ventilation rheostats are very straightforward; it's much better than the miniscule buttons that plague the SEL model's climate control system.

The sound system does the job and can even read MP3 files, but its green-lettered display reminds us of the radio in a 1986 Thunderbird.

The heating and ventilation rheostats are very straightforward.

What really burns me, though, is the windshield wipers that are programmed to always wipe one last time about three seconds after washing and wiping the front window. In very few occasions, there is still some dripping to wipe off, but most of the time, that delayed last wipe just ends up streaking the windshield for nothing. Whoever though of this brilliant idea deserves a few good kicks in the posterior.

Competition
The Ford Fusion SE has a base price of $23,899, and this test car also includes the Sport Appearance package; for $1,200, you get a rear decklid spoiler, a sunroof and alloy wheels. The total price is $25,099, which isn't bad at all. In addition, as this is being written, the car also carries a $2,750 manufacturer's rebate.

Here's a quick look at the competition:
Chevrolet Malibu LS, 169 hp, $22,995
Dodge Avenger SE, 172 hp, $21,995
Honda Accord LX, 177 hp, $25,090
Hyundai Sonata GL, 162 hp, $22,295
Kia Magentis LX, 162 hp, $21,895
Mazda6 GS-I4, 156 hp, $24,495
Mitsubishi Galant ES (2009), 160 hp, $23,998
Nissan Altima 2.5 S, 175 hp, $24,498
Pontiac G6, 164 hp, $23,395
Saturn Aura XE, 169 hp, $24,240
Subaru Legacy 2.5i, 170 hp, $26,995
Toyota Camry LE (2009), 158 hp, $23,400
Volkswagen Passat, 200 hp, $27,475

Well, there's quite a few of them. Note that about half of these mid-size sedans don't offer a manual transmission. For the price, the Fusion offers a lot

The seats are very comfortable, and their cloth fabric is very nice.
