Meanwhile, the front seats might be large, but they fail to provide adequate side support. You can feel it as soon as you enter a corner -- body roll is considerable.
What's more, when the second and third rows are occupied, the available cargo room is ridiculously limited. At 479 liters, the capacity is even smaller than the Honda Fit's (585 liters BEHIND the rear seats)! Could somebody please explain that?!
Besides, in order to load objects into the rear section, you have to lift them up 75 centimeters (30 inches) above the ground. That's how high the cargo floor is! My advice to you is to climb on board and ask a friend to bring you your luggage.
I also want to point out that this "green" Yukon's power-assisted steering is less sharp and precise than the hydraulic steering of regular Yukons.
A trend to keep an eye on
I could keep complaining, but the fact is that the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid is indeed a step in the right direction. Sure, this mastodon is not a model of efficiency, but it's not the gas-guzzling beast the conventionally-powered variant is. Actually, my tester burned 15-20 percent less fuel than a Yukon equipped with the 5.3-liter V8!
However, your hopes of saving money on fuel will go up in flames when you factor in the astronomical price of this full-size SUV... unless you plan on using it exclusively in the city.
