With deceasing sales and increasing competition, two of Jeep's best-sellers are on the receiving end of a number of improvements.

Grand Cherokee
Aesthetically, the 2008 Grand Cherokee looks very much like the 2007. The grille has grown mildly and headlight clusters are rounder.

New in the mechanicals department, the 4.7L V8 gets 2 spark-plugs per cylinder, a higher compression ratio and more with a resulting 291 hp and 322 lb/ft of torque, up 59 and 17 respectively. Important to note is the addition of the turbo-diesel 3.0L V6; 2nd in torque numbers and first for fuel economy.

The interior has also received some attention in the form of softer materials, redesigned door armrests and a tilt-telescoping steering wheel.

Liberty
The revised Liberty has arrived. Basically unchanged from 2002 on to 2007, Jeep's high-volume Liberty arrives as a 2008 with a new face swapped from the Commander and crisper body lines reminiscent of Dodge's Nitro. The wheel flares are angular and the overall stance is more rugged. The wheelbase has grown and therefore the interior is now more comfortable and welcoming.

The Liberty's new undercarriage allows for the spare tire to be located underneath the body and the rear door is now a conventional hatch as opposed to a side-swinging door.

Powering the new Liberty are existing family engines including the 3.7L and 4.0L V6.
